In most cases the old wallpaper should be removed first. Old wallpaper often has lifting or gapping seams between strips, or tears, so for the best and longest-lasting result we recommend stripping the old paper before installing new wallpaper. In rare cases — where the existing wallpaper was installed only recently, has a very clean, smooth, texture-free surface, and shows no risk of peeling away — new wallpaper can be applied directly over the top. We always inspect the wall on site first before deciding the best approach.

Our wallpaper is 100% imported from South Korea. Korean wallpaper is 106cm wide, whereas British and European wallpapers are only 53cm wide and made from paper or non-woven material that is not waterproof, fades and stains easily, and — because of the narrow width — needs many seams that often gap or open up over time. The narrow 53cm pattern repeat also looks monotonous. Korean wallpaper, by contrast, is thicker, has a superior texture, and has a vinyl-coated surface that is fully waterproof, making it suitable for bathrooms and toilets. It resists fading and staining, has a wide 106cm pattern repeat for a more natural look, and needs far fewer seams, so faults are rare. Most importantly, the price per unit area is on average around 30% lower than comparable British and European wallpaper.

You cannot judge the true colour and texture of wallpaper online, so it is best to visit the showroom in person to feel the thickness and texture. Where possible, take samples home and confirm your choice in your own space — this really helps with selecting the right pattern and colour. Rather than matching wallpaper to your flooring or paint colour, it works better to coordinate the wallpaper's colour and design with your curtains, furniture, light fittings, decorative pieces, and mirror frames. Yes. All you need is the wallpaper, a few simple tools, and the adhesive to hang it. Recently Bunnings and other stores have stopped selling wallpaper tools and paste, so there are almost no places left in Sydney to buy them. At Wallpaper Masters we supply everything together — wallpaper paste, paste rollers, instructions on how to mix and apply the paste, cutting cards, and the brushes needed for installation — along with detailed guidance on how to do the job. At our Kellyville showroom you can buy from over 300 patterns held in stock, sold by the square metre — so there is no need to buy a whole roll and waste wallpaper or money on excess. A further 2,000+ patterns are shipped from the Korean wallpaper factory by DHL express, so if you choose a pattern that is not in stock, please allow about two weeks.
